Mrs Leland Stanford.

Dear Madam:

I take the liberty of writing to you. I was reading about your Generous gifts to Institutions and got the idea that you were Generous & Charitable. I would like to start a business I know I would succeed if I only had money to start with

So dear lady you will know how it is with us. Can you, will you help us to get a start. if it is only a little it will be a great help to us, we kneed a house and barn, so much. if we had that and our debts paid, then we would be all right and could fight our way
