community which we keep in good repair with walks and grounds in order and all paid for and no debt upon us whatever. It takes study-care and the utmost economy to cover our yearly expenses. It is considered marvelous that we keep alive and going and have the courage and enthusiasm we do since for years we have not been able to keep a settled minister, just Sunday preaching and no pastoral work because in addition to other expenses we can only raise about three hundred dollars for preaching and secure a college student. They are generally good speakers and promising young men of clean life and excellent character. ments of careless non church going people who might be reached by the gospel by a tireless and faithful minister. Meetings could be held in these places of two or three weeks around every year and awaken the people to the necessity of at least sending their children to SSchool for religious instruction and advantages. the church do all the work in this line possible for a busy people, and feel the responsibility of reaching the children by every means possible - Our hearts are full of interest and of sorrow for the condition of things in all the surrounding territory but our hands are tied behind us for want of means to support a pastor

Have you studied the problem of the country church. A generation ago the great West took off the many [pushing?] energetic families and now for twenty or more the cities are sapping the life blood of the country congregations. Every young man and woman of ability and promise whose lives we have watched and educated in the SSchool The Junior Endeavor and Senior as well and many of whom have become [?] helpful Christians find positions in the cities or as Profess ors in colleges or other professions and the home church is bereft of thier Social, moral, religious, and financial help and influence.
