Dear Madam:

I have just read in
to-day's paper of your generous deed
of charity, and my hopeful dispo-
sition has caused me to appeal
to you for help. I have worked
and managed as best I could, but
age & misfortune have now over-taken
me until I feel the need of a
few hundred dollars more than
ever before. I assure you I am
a worthy character and no imposter,
which facts I can prove by
ref's. I refer you to J. B. Middleton,
