Mrs Jane L. Stanford San Francisco Dear Madame

I have posted yesterday by registered parcel 2 colored designs representating two different works to be reproduced in mosaic. Over the entrance doors I have done so following your wish to have two projects to select from, but I have not any doubt you will select the one made by Prof Vaoletti which express your ideas explained by me in fact & followed by me day by day whilst M. Vaoletti was designing it It represents our God father receiving Christ in Paradise. Our god father having {sainted ?} Him the Prophet of other Saints 1st picture II pictures Our Lord on His throne having round him the Evangelists & [barred ?] by the Apostles & Kings, whom are adoring the King of the Kings

This work will cost you $4000 The second project which is much simpler a represent of female figures singing the

holy melodies of the Heaven.

This work will cost 2000 ITL

I wish to say that being the space rather low from the floor we cannot possibly use the III category of mosaic, but the heads must be {after ?} the first of the [work ?] of the second category We must obtain the effect given by finishing & being so near to the eyes of the visitors it must be made of good mosaic - In case you approve one of the two designs kindly sign it & send it back and I shall do my best to have it finished & fixed by October - I hope I shall succeed as I have a great deal to do, & hard work for us to complete by September all the works now in hand - After received the design back & approved - I will commence it & will prepare the contract & forward to you to sign it. How do you admire the mosaics of the big pictures already fixed? I hope they met your satisfaction - Kindly inform Mr Lathrop that the coloured designs have been sent by mistake to Leland Stanford Jr. University - Palo Alto With best compliments Very respectfully yours M. Camerino

Madame

Your kind letter written on board of your car duly to hand, but am afraid this writing will not reach you in N.Y. as you say to stay there only 3 weeks.

I feel so pleased to hear that my mosaics are so much admired in fact my vicar wrote that the effect of all the big pictures is superior to what we thought or expected.

You are so kind to wish me to study the subjects for 2 new pictures to be fixed over two doors at the end of the nave - my men has already wrote me pointing out the two spaces which I had noted in developing the plans. I must first wrote it ? to say to give me the exact dimensions before I could state any price

which will also be subordinated to the approval of the drawings.

I hope you will be in receipt of the drawings sent to you on the 19th Dec to fill the spaces over the entrance doors, and as soon as approved by you I shall commence the work.

My men wrote asking if I think to have the mosaics over the entrance doors ready for March. I don't expect they will be ready & fixed before the end of October provided you might have the goodness to send the colored designs back and approved as soon as possible. The mosaic decorations for churches take years & in fact also for Budapest we have worked more than 10 years. I must say that we made miracles in finishing such a quantity of mosaics for your church in 2 years - and all what is in my power to please you will be done.

I wish you to be also quite sure that if some mosaics will be placed after the inauguration of the church - this can be done without my men might be of any trouble because small scaffolds do not interfere much
