Dear Mrs. Stanford

Circumstances prevent my joining in the demonstrations of my fellow teachers and students tonight, but in the quiet of my home I am rejoicing in the happy outcome to the tedious suit that has so long been an obstacle to the accomplishing of your desires for the youth of our land in the memory of your son and, as God has willed it, in the memory of your husband also.

After this long season of ploughing without looking back or regarding the cold, in which you have had much sympathy but too seldom expressed, we rejoice with you that the period of plowing and borrowing is drawing to an end and that your harvest is near.
