We are both [working?] and saving our money as we hope to be able to go home to our place in another year. We have a nice ranch of 800 acres we bought from the R R Co. but my illness caused us to morgage it. in a short time we will have it paid off. You remember I told you I worked [at dressmaking?] in the White house many years. I now work for [ladies?] in their houses by the day, and have more than I can do. Only think I worked for Mrs. [Regua ?] of [Richmond ?] from 26th January until 5th of June at $3.00 per day which was a great help to me. I was with her when her and daughter paid you a visit lately.

I beg you will excuse me for writing you so mutch [sic]. I will end by saying from my very heart an[d] soul may our Heavenly Father and his blessed mother bless and protect you. Believe me your very resp'd Mary E. Dermot
