My dear Mrs Stanford
Mr Grant has told me of his very pleasant call at your house this morning and of your kind invitation to us to dine with you this evening. I regret that I have made an

engagement with some friends for this evening which Mr. Grant did not remember while calling.
I am very sorry to hear of Senator Stanford's indisposition and will hope to find him quite well when we call at Palo Alto from which I am anticipating a great deal of pleasure.
I will give myself the pleasure of calling on you here also.
Yours sincerely Fannie C. Grant

My dear Mrs Stanford
We are anticipating much pleasure at having Mrs Grant with us in the country during the holidays. She would be very unhappy to miss seeing you when you are in the city so I write to tell you how pleased Mr Grant and I would be if you would

come down to our country place during her visit, thus giving Mrs Grant a great deal of pleasure and at the same time enabling us to have a little visit from you which we would not otherwise hope to have. We are very glad however to have an attraction which will bring you to us.
Mr Grant will call for you in the city or if you prefer will meet you at Purdys Station, if you will let us know what day will be most agreeable for you to come out.
With kindest regards to the Senator in which Mr Grant joins me.
Believe me very Sincerely Fannie C. Grant
