could have passed our few days here with you. We hope that, our dear friend Mrs Logan, may find some comfort in such friends as yourself, but her affliction is indeed a terrible one.
Colonel Grant and I hope that we shall have the pleasure of seeing you and the Senator ere long in New York. We shall ever delight in doing

Mrs Grant desires me to express her thanks to you, for the beautiful floral piece which she will hasten to place in the tomb of General Grant. It reached her safely and she deeply feels and appreciates
still, to go to Washington during Lent for a few days with Mrs Beale, where it will do her great good to see you and her other friends there.

should pass our time with you while there. Dear Mrs Logan must find her grief almost unendurable, and we hope she may find some comfort in her children and friends, the blow was very sudden and terrible.
