Vienna May 12th

Colonel Grant, Mrs Grant the children and I arrived here four or five days ago, and find this a most beautiful charming city. Tomorrow or next day Fred will be presented to The Emperor after which he will take the position as minister here. We

from the city - very warm already, and shall go out to some little country place near by as soon as possible as of course, that will be better for the children and all of us. There are said to be many lovely, attractive places, near enough to Vienna for Fred to come in town every morning.

We had a most delightful visit to London, having the pleasure of being presented at the Drawing room and there seeing the Queen, the American Princess of Wales with their children two of the Princes and two of the Princesses, also the Duchess of Edinborough {Edinburgh} and the Duchess of Albany.
