I have just written and { ?} up a long, long letter to you, telling you how disappointed I was that you did not come when Mr Choate said you were coming. How long I kept my curtains hanging so that you would see my house looking

nicely and above all how hurt and abused I felt that you did not let me know you were coming. The very second enquiry Col Fred and Mrs Fred made when they came on a visit was "how is Mrs Stanford? They were surprised to hear I knew nothing of you. Fred told me me then you were not well when he called and that he

relapse. If it were not so serious it would be farcical. Only think of the men that were leaders in that great party. May I hope for just a word from you dear Mrs Stanford. Nellie and her two sweet little girls join me in love to you Yours always with a heart full of love.
