My dear Mrs Stanford
I was dreadfully disappointed when Sunday evening as I was ordering my carriage to go to you hoping to bring you back to dinner when Mrs Lartons maid told me you had
left at two o'clock for California You know how very disappointed I was to learn this - not to see you even before you left.
The weather is simply horrid all this week General Jones brought this clipping to me last night
