Dear Madam,
Your letter expressing gratification for verses is here and its contents pleases me very much and I am more than pleased that you are proud of them.
I forwarded your expression of goodwill to my cousin the composer, and told him that you were going to have them placed in the fire proof department of the Sanford University where they would be preserved for generations, and I also told him that he must prepare some verses in eulogy of your humane self, which I will keep, and should I survive you, I will have them placed alongside of that which does now and will for ages to come call the attention of the people of the civilized
