My dear Friend:
I do not think
that you would have
objected to what I actually
said to the students. I
have made it very clear
to professors and students
that we do not look forward
to large numbers nor to
a great variety and range
of departments, but to
making our teaching in
all departments as
excellent as the buildings
are. My ideal like
yours has been a
relatively small
number of graduates,
each one thoroughly
trained.
