I write to get your permission to place in the Library at the expense of the American Swedenborg Printing and Publishing Society a full set of the writing of the Hon Emanuel Swedenborg there has been several applications for the works and one of the professions and several of the students ask for them and as they are in all the important libraries of the world and being a California[n] and also aquainted with your lamented husband

and having a natural pride in the University of Palo ALto and feeling that you are the proper person for one to apply to therefore I ask you to send me an order to have the books or works works of Swedenborg place in the Library of Palo Alto for the benefit of the University at the expense of our society I dont know if you remember me.
