Ministering Angeles.
"He shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash they furl against a stone."
I often say at set of sun, "Today my earthwork must be done; This weary, heavy load of care Another day, I cannot bear." Too weak to live, too weak to die, And that I stay, I wonder why.
Yet under all and over all Is He who marks the sparrow's fall; His angels are within my call, And tho' I stumble, shall not fall When forced to drink from Sorrow's cup Their loving hands will bear me up; And feeling, knowing they are near Within my heart I have no fear That any longer shall I stay Than my work's done, not e'en a day,
What comfort in the blessed thought! And what a lesson here is taught Of love, O, my Heavenly Friend, Who doth thy ministering angels send!

Los Angeles, Calif. Oct 28th '93 Mrs. Jane L. Stanford Palo Alto, Calif. Dear Madam: I have written the enclosed lines for you and I hope they may afford you some comfort, at least. I do not pose as a poet; I am only a shymer and a poor one at that. And too in this bread-and-butter-battle. I have little time but to plan campaign against the foe - poverty. Hoping that you will kindly overlook imperfections, and remember only the spirit that prompts me of a spirit of kindness & hope to comfort I remain Yours Resp'y Mrs. Julie A Parker

And that makes all beautiful, here & there, Yet have I never seen Love, sweet Love, Laid under the sod.
