Dear Senator:

Pray remind your
great State of California that it
has not sent the two statues to
the Statuary Hall, as it has the
right to do, of some of its citizens
of renown, and certainly she
has no lack of such historic
subjects. The late Senator Standford, [sic]
one of your Governors, would of
course be likely to be selected as
one. Pray remind your people that
they should not neglect the honor
