oldest College of Arts in Kansas, had last year an enrollment of over 500, has a bright future before it as all who know it allow. It is free from debt save the sum of twelve thousand (12,000) dollars on Centenary Hall. The request & [decision ?] presenting is that you assume this debt and name the college chapel (a beautiful auditorium which crowded holds 1200 people) "Leland Stanford Chapel".

I send you by this mail a copy of our catalogue and also a number of our college papers. Such a benefaction would make your memory and that of your husband [illegible] sweet [?] in this part of God's work.
