Mrs. Leland Stanford,
Dear Madame,
In writing
to my cousin the Rev. James
Otis Lincoln of The Church
Divinity School, San Mateo, Cal-
ifornia a few weeks since
I mentioned a beautiful
collection of drawings which
were for sale in Holland
and which I thought ought
to be placed in one of America's
great libraries, or universities
or private collections.
He was so impressed with the
[left side]
idea that he wrote to you
immediately and this morning
I received a letter from him
asking me to send you any
information which I might
have concerning the pictures.
The drawings have been
reproduced and published in
a beautiful illustrated Bible
(costing $100.00 a copy).
Now that the Bible is launched
the originals are to be sold
and they form indeed a rare
and valuable collection.
The pictures were exhibited
in London last year (but were
not then for sale) and I inclose [sic]
an article copied from The
Studio (England's best Art
Magazine) which will give you
many particulars concerning
