appreciation for this brave selfsacrificing woman to whom, more than to any other all this honor is due. Believe me, dear Mrs. Stanford, we have not been unmindful of your tireless efforts for the welfare of this University and of those who have placed their hopes in the future nor of the unfaltering patience and heroic self-sacrifice which you have shown during these last trying years.

My close association with the young women of this University shows me daily how true is their estimate of your work and how deep is their gratitude towards you. I speak for them as well as for myself when I ask you to accept our warmest congratulations and our heartiest thanks. The past has been full of such gifts to us - this future
