PRESIDENT'S HOUSE BERKELEY
Dear Mrs Stanford:
I had to-day the great pleasure of visiting the new chapel which you have added to the resources of Stanford University, and I cannot forbear sending you a word of thanks in behalf of interests I represent for this great good you have done the State. It is a direct contribution to the influences which make for good in the great community of which we are all members. As the generations pass through this building they will be uplifted and inspired toward better and larger living, and all of us and all our institutions that strive toward betterring human life will share the blessing.
Very sincerely yours, Benj. J. Wheeler.
Mrs Jane Lathrop Stanford.
Berkeley. Sept. 25. 1902

will last for ever
Also a large enlargement unalterable which being framed will be very decorative.
I am convinced that these two portraits will please you very much and will be admired by all the connoisseurs and artists.
It is above all to establish the name of our house in the grand record of America.
The price of the enamel is 600 Francs and the portrait 100 Francs.
I hope that you will compliment me on these two [terms?] and kindly excuse me for not send -ing the others as I had promised you.
Yours truly Pho Walery
