My dear Leland

We left Dresden
on Thursday Nov 4th having
remained there three weeks
lacking two days. I staid [sic]
notwithstanding the bad weather
for the sake of being near
dear Clara, and did intend
to remain one month for she
had promised if I would do
so she might by that
time get the children in
readiness with winter clothing
settle them with Mrs Burcage
while away with me and
remain with me 'till you
came, but Leland was
not well the entire time
sore throat hoarseness and
a little malaise & fever,
he was not out but four

Munich Mr White has quite a pretentious place on
Goethe Street. Had I felt well here I would have
called on them as they were very polite and even
attentive to me at Hamburg. I was not equal
to receiving attentions and thus far have not
sent them my cards. Clara's children were
all three sick with colds when I left, but she
writes me they are well now and after I got
to Paris if I should be sick and feel that I
would like her with me, to telegraph and she
will come - and in the letter received this
morning she says she will come to me now
if I want her very badly, but she feels she ought
