Gen. Thomas H.Hubbard,

Mills Building, 23 Broad St.,

New York.

Dear Sir:-

On the 12th inst. I sent you a telegram as follows: "Until I hear directly from you and know exactly what I will receive in place of present holdings of Mexican International R.R. bonds and more detail than I now have must withold my consent to reorganization and proposed sale of Mexican securities to Speyer & Co." and I now beg leave to confirm the same.

I write to say in confirmation of this telegram that it was sent because I did not have before me the necessary data and information upon which to form an intelligent opinion and also because 500 of these bonds are held by the Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University and 150 by myself practically in trust for an endowment on behalf of Thomas Welton Stanford to the University, and the remaining 150 are held subject to the order of Thomas Welton Stanford of Melbourne, Australia, which latter bonds have been

that all these bonds are not really in my control.

If in all cases I had the same information directly from you that Mr. Crocker has from you it would greatly facilitate the transaction of business, and I feel I have a right to demand the same information that you and the other associates have.

If I knew from you just exactly what it was proposed to give in substitution for these 800 bonds I would then be able to act with much more satisfaction in the matter, both to yourself and myself. May I ask you to send me the requisite information at your early convenience, and oblige,

Yours respectfully,

Some of the Legatees threaten immediate suits against me and possibly attachment. Am without money and cannot realize on securities. I am helpless unless P.I.Co., pays me immediately the million and a quarter due me which I urge you to pay. There are nearly twenty-five legatees represented by over ten different attorneys here and in Esat, and some may attempt attachments P.I.Co., to my great damage and that of associates. Must have immediate relief. Answer quickly.

My dear friend

How your kind letter glad[d]ened my heart. it meant that at home I was not for gotten, the heart clings so to loves ones and more especially when our loved ones are among friends only.

I have felt more lonely here than I expected, the City is so teeming with humanity it almost overpowers one with its vastness
