me feel it was time to ask these grand men to help me. They have responded most nobly, and the outlook is proving far beyond my fondest expectations.

Mr. Benjamin C. Blodgett,
Dear Sir,
Your communication in relation to the position of organist, has been received.
The Church committee, since the receipt of your communication, have writen to Professor Brooks,

who was allowed to go to the St. Louis Fair to play the large organ, which ultimately goes to Kansas.
He has overstayed his time, and as there have been rumors on the Campus that he has accepted the position as organist for the new organ, which is to go to Kansas.
The committee do not feel they can accept the rumor as a fact, and sent a communication dated Aug. 13th asking him to give us some understanding in regard to his intentions in the matter.
We now await his reply.
If Mr. Brook does not intend to return, the committee thinks it may be wise to have you take the

position on trial, which would give you an opportunity to satisfy yourself, as to whether all the circumstances in connection with the position are perfectly satisfactory to you, and likewise satisfactory to the committee and those most interested in the Church, the students and attending visitors.
Professor Smith, our present organist, placed in the Church by Mr. Brook, is only filling Mr. Brook's place during his absence.
Yours respectfully (Signed) Jane L. Stanford
