The men who are on a strike have asked me to say to you that they do not think it safe now for you to go far and would advise you to remain at Sisson until we can find out how our track is - Things are now looking very bad - One of our trestles mile west of Mont. was burned this morning - this trestle is over nine

I find on inquiry it will be impossible for me to go on to Vina where I expect to stay over night if any outside parties are taken on the car.

Have just arrived at Sissons. The burning of the trestle prevents my going farther at present. Will go to Dunsmuir from here by carriage & as soon as possible would like a car and engine and proceed to San Francisco. I have no fear whatever to continue my journey I find the strikers are anxious to signify their allegiance to my husband's memory by carrying me safely to San Francisco. I have this assurance from them.
