THIS INDENTURE, made the Sixth day of July, A. D. 1903, between The Board of Trustees of The Leland Stanford Junior University, the party of the first part, and JANE LATHROP STANFORD, the party of the second part, WITNESSETH: That the party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar and other valuable consideration to them moving from said party of the second part, receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, does hereby lease, demise and let unto the said party of the second part the two residences in which the said party of the second part has been accustomed to reside, - one of said residences being situated at the Southwest corner of California and Powell Streets in the City and County of San Francisco, State of California, and the other upon a portion of the Palo Alto Farm, near Palo Alto, in the County of Santa Clara, State aforesaid; together with the stables and grounds used in connection with each of said residences; and also all such household contents of said residences as may belong to the said party of the first part in trust for the Leland Stanford Junior University. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same unto the said party of the second part for and during the term of her natural life. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said party of the first part, by resolution duly and regularly made, has caused these presents to be executed by its President and its Secretary the day and year first above written.
