Untitled Page 17

The men and women of the Stanford Club of
Central California are bowed in grief and join the
multitude of those who mourn the loss of our friend
and benefactor. In the death of Mrs. Stanford, the
last of the founders of our Alma Mater has passed
from us; the great university has lost a wise coun-
sellor, and the educational world a noble and un-
selfish patron.

To those of us who knew her, the sense of
her loss is especially keen. Those who come after
will have before them the material evidence of her
love for the young men and women of our state and
country. About the University that stands as a
monument to the memory of a cherished son and
devoted parents, will forever cling the recollec-
tions of a life of loyalty, devotion and self-sacrifice.
