Mar. 20, 1905.
Hon. G. R. Lukens,
State Senator,
Oakland, Cal.
Dear Sir:
If I am correctly informed you were recently appointed as one
of the committee to represent the Senate of the State of California at the
funeral of Mrs. Stanford. The exercises will take place at Stanford
University on Friday, March 24th, at 1:30 p.m., in the Memorial Church.
For this occasion you are respectfully requested to act as an honorary
pallbearer. All persons serving in this capacity are asked to assemble at
Room 90 of the inner Quadrangle, the building to the north of the western
arch, before one o'clock on the day of the funeral. A similar request is
sent to your colleagues, Senators Wolfe and Sanford.
Very truly yours,
Chairman of Committee
