To C. P. Huntington, V.P. Central Pacific Rail Road.

The Central Pacific RR. has not been overflowed. The California Pacific RR (commonly know here as the [Valley? Village?] RR) overflowed near Dainsville - But owing to cool weather the Sacramento river did not rise as high, by several feet, as usual at flood times.

Washington D.C.

The present terminus of the Central Pacific Rail Road is at "Wells", five hundred & twenty three (523) miles east from Sacramento.

William McCracken is a proper man for Post Master there.
