I have been much interested in what I have heard of the "Leland Stanford Jr University" and being desirous of going to the Pacific Coast to practice my profession of Surveyor and Landscape Architect, I respectfully request that I may be given a position in connection with it if agreeable to your wishes and all things should prove satisfactory.
I should prefer to act as superintendent of the ornamental
