on the one principle that in the Museum I suggest the condition of the industry in California would be the central idea, from which all the exhibits in that section would radiate and to which all these would bear a direct relationship.
By such a museum the curiosity would not only be excited, but the most practical lessons would be inculcated. The farmer would see how similar crops to those he is raising are produced in other sections and in foreign countries. This would in many cases suggest to him modifications in his own systems in which expense or time might be saved or greater results obtained. If, as it is likely, he found little to copy in methods, he could study the charts of production in other countries and intelligently judge of his competition and market facilities and govern his production accordingly.
