Dear Mr. Blaine

Since your great
loss you have been much in
my mind, but I have not felt
equal to expessing satisfactorily
my sympathy. Now a time has
elapsed and I trust you can
realize that your dear ones have
gained by going from this into
a higher life. But I know by
experience that even though we
realize this our sense of loss
remains as constant as is our
love. With the departure of
children the hopes and ambitions
of our lives in a great measure
go out, and their places are never
filled.
