Sacramento Aug 10th 1860

Dear Father & Mother

Enclosed find D O Mills & Co Draft No 15432 on the American Exchange Bank N.york and payable to the order of Josiah Stanford, for the sum of one thousand dollars. I have delayed writing for some time in order that it might be convenient to remit the enclosed. It is on acct of Dewitt C. Stanford. We are all quite well and business is fair. I have not time now to write mutch, but if I had more time I do not know that I could write mutch that would interest. I wish you were settled in this country and I hope the time will come when you will be. I believe it would be better for all. I shall write you more fully upon this subject some other time
