Dear Doctor
I have not your last letter before me but I remember that the business portion of it was in regard to the price of the book. I think a low price is best for I would like to hear of some sales and possibly someone may want it if the price is low enough. I have never heard of anybody buying the book. Non have I heard of the books being sold. Yours Truly Leland Stanford

Gen. [?] F. Sheehan, Sacramento. Dear General:
Your letter of 2[n]d received & has had consideration. I think something will be done in Sacramento. that will be to your benefit, but I cannot bring it around now. Things will probably have to remain in their present condition, until my return from the East, which will be in about two months.
With kind regards. I am Yours truly, Leland Stanford
