Your letter of November 9th was duly handed to me at Stana Rosa on my visit there Saturday. I regret that I forgot to send you the portrait for you hall. I t has been my intention for a long time. I will have it attended to at once and as soon as the portrait can be made ready I will send it to you. I suppose you want it at Oakland. I herewith return your enclosure.

My dear Sir

Your note of Oct 26rh offering $41000 for Sunol was received last evening. Though the price was flattering I could not make up my mind until this afternoon to part with her but I accept your offer. I do this the more cheerfully as you leave her in my care until we can further develop her powers. I think that if nothing gives a miss with her she will lower the record of Mand S. if any animal can do it. She has not been fortunate this season and her strength today is not what it

Might have been under more favorable conditions.

She makes an exhibition this afternoon for the benefit of the Breeders Assocation but she will not be driven unless it be for the last half. It will only be a trail for her but next Saturday she will trot to beat Axtell's record and I shall be disappointed if she does not go the mile in 2.10

While you kindly suggest that she may remain with me for a year I will readily yield the privilege you grant regarding her at any time you may desire it as she is your own to do with as you please.

It was rumored in the papers that you were coming out here but I find this to be without sufficient foundation. I shall be very glad indeed if you will visit this State and it

My Dear Jennie

I have thought of you a great deal today and I have wondered how you were feeling and whether you were lonesome. I have missed you very much and have feared you find your surroundings tiresome I shall visit you as soon as I can. Unless something unforseen occurs to prevent I will leave San Francisco to join you Tuesday evening. It is a warm day here Mr Nash and I went to church today and had a very sensible Sermon. The substance was the necessity of union of church members to sustain their church organization. It was a Sermon
