I have been thinking that possibly electricity would be good for you a Gentleman tells me that his nerves were badly upset and he could not sleep but by the use of electricity he was completley restored to health. I hope you will receive so much benefit by the mountain climate that you will [need?] nothing on your return.

The climate at Palo Alto is delicious and to day I have remained at the house all day. Sittng on the Piazza I [miss?] the little birds [?] one yet seen at the fountains. I notice some in the grounds that used to visit the fountains and their avoidance is a mystery that will engage my thoughts as often as I look at the fountains

You may find it a pleasant excursion to visit Yreka. It was once a flourishing well built mountain town. Then a trip over the Siskyou Mountains may [for ?] another pleasant day

As you have your own car to be hitched on at your desire the hour for the return by rail is not of much consequence.

I sent Leland Lathrop to keep you company. I feared you would meet no one to interest you and that you would soon exhaust your surroundings,

Next Saturday there is to be a meeting of the board of [tracks?] at which I am expected. I ought to attend it, or I would go up to Vina this week and from there pay you a visit. Hoping to hear that you are able to sleep well. I remain your loving husband Leland Stanford
