My Dear Doctor
I see in the papers that
Professor Swaine is about to leave
us. I am sorry for this as I have
an impression that he is especially
suited to act with you as your
assistant in your duties as President.
If you approve I would
be willing to offer him the position
of Vice President or Assistant to the
President. For some time I have
been thinking that on my return
to California I would consult with
you in regard to an assistant and
the title be ought to receive. It
seems to me that whoever represents
