Unite States Senate

Washing D.C. Jan 1 1892

I am very glad to learn that you
have probably secured a competent
Mistress for Roble Hall the portion
is certainly a most important one.

In reading over your address
at the opening of the University
I find these words on p23.
A Generous education should be
the birthright of every man and
woman in America. This strikes
me as a great truth and of
such importance that I would
like it to be used as one of the
mottoes of the University. I have
read your address several times
and each time I read it I am
better pleased.
