I cannot express to you what joy it was for me when I received the book containing the [bivegneir?] physical sketch of young Mr. Leland's life; it will be a dear remembrance and shall be highly honoured. Please accept my sincere thanks.

I hope the Almighty God has sent you comfort in your deep sorrow. Thank that your departed son is not dead forever you will see him again in a better land where he is looking down on you now as an angel delivered from all trouble and grief.

Dear Mr et Mrs Stanford

Your letter of the 27 May has been received and I hope you will kindly excuse the liberty I took beet as I have mentioned desperation and a fact I will tell you made me so bold.

One evening I was very sorry and wept bitterly and when asleep your deceased son entered my room and [paest?] on my bed the same white flowers I sent you. When [available?]

I said that it was only a drea but I took it for a sign from heaven and was to bold to address you dear Sir I am sorry this misfortune did not. One over me some years ago when young master Leland was alive I am seen he with his good and noble heart would have spoken for me. He always was kind and amiable with me and last summer he hoped to return next year and so I cannot believe that I never shall see him again.
