My dear Governor

The news dispatches inform us that you have arrived in New York, and we indulge the hope that you may find time to make us a visit before you return to California. This is not the best season in which to see West Point - yet you would I am sure find it

a gem of a place even now.

It will afford Mrs. Schofield and me the greatest pleasure + much ?for ?cause all your family welcome if you will favor us with a visit at any time to suit your convenience.
