Geneneral O. H. La Grauge
Superintendent U. S. Mint
San Francisco
Dear Sir:
George M. Hauscom Esquire who is now residing in Bartlett Springs, Lake County, has written to me in reference to a position in the Mint for his wife.
Mr. Hauscom is one of the oldest Republicaus in California, and one who is certainly entitled to consideration by the Party, for his past services.
If there are two places for ladies in the Mint, one for which I have already made application, the other one, I would most cordially recommend to be given to Mrs Hauscom, and ask in her
behalf, your kind consideration.
Truly Yours,
Leland Stanford
