over 6000 feet is reached. One pair of horses and scraper moves about 60 yds in ordinary work. To create this scraper force I would use horses mules & oxen as they can be had. The scraper made by Soule and sent out here as a sample is a good one better than the eastern scrapers. I hope this matter of scraper force will receive immediate attention.

I think the earth work on the Mormon contract will be completed by the 1st Dec

I have agreed with another party and expect to make the contract to morrow morning for the grading of so much work as they can do until they meet us from the west. They commencing at the west end of the Mormon contract and working west. I think they will be able to do a good deal of work. It appears as though we can get all the force we may require at this end, but men are reluctant to go so far
