Dear Mother,
I have decided to knit Daddy a pair of socks for Christmas and I wish that you would write and tell me what his size is and if he likes them quite long. There is always a little time before and after lunch and dinner when I can knit, and I thought he might like a pair. I started a dark green pair because I thought they would look pretty with his tan suit. Please don't mention anything about them to anyone.
