Dear Mother and Daddy,

Well, I guess you'll never meet Bob now, for I'm not really going with him anymore. I still have the pin, but he doesn't want it back, in fact he won't take it back, I tried to make him. That was a week ago, last Sunday night though. Anyway Kay said that he had told Bill that he was going to take out some other girls. I hope he does but heaven knows who I'll go out with now though there are so many around. It was I, though, who broke things sort of off, but I suppose I'll still be going out with him, at least twice, because I already had two dates with him for dances, one in February and one in March. I had sort of a big week-end though. Bob has never come down on Friday night, but he did last time because there was a Basketball game. He came before dinner and I was down at the Women's Club house

practicing. He came down and I practically died when I saw him because I was playing some horrible finger exercise and my hair was up in a bandana - I really couldn't have looked worse. He brought me back home and then we went and ate in Palo Alto and went to the basketball game afterwards. The basketball game was a little disappointing, because we were playing U.C.L.A and we lost by quite a score. Something horrible like 88 to 18. On Saturday we went out to dinner with Kay and Bill and two other couples. We had lots of fun and then we went to the barn dance at the (symbol) 6 house. It was one of the cutest dances I've been to in a long time. Last night was also the night that I sort of broke up with Bob. I felt quite badly at first, but it really is better, I guess, anyway, I hope it was the right thing to do. In spite of it all

he came over today; he practically ran me down as I was walking back from church. Bill was with him and we drove around all afternoon and paid a visit to the Stanford Art gallery. I came home about six and about fifteen minutes after he left someone called for me and I didn't hear them. It couldn't have been anyone but Bob, and he knows I was there, because he'd just taken me in. Heaven only knows what he is thinking now. I'm not going out with him next weekend, at least not on Saturday night.

Thank you very much for sending me the forty dollars. I doubt if I go skiing more than once though because the sophomore cotillion was on one of the week-ends that we had reservations for and since we are sophomore we just simply have to go and the other week-end in March

was the week-end before finals and I don't think it would be very advisable to go on that week-end. Please don't worry about Shillie or any other boys going. She pounced on Sally when she mentioned the idea. She don't want any boys around I think one of the main reasons we had such a wonderful time last time was that we hardly even mentioned a boy's name. As for Kay's pants they went to the cleaners the day after we got back, and Sally has been paid my one fourth share of the gasoline.

I hate to keep asking you to send me things, but I would very much like to have my yellow formal. I hope it won't be too much trouble to send it, if it is, I can wear some - thing I already have up here.

Love to you all,

Mary -
