Dear Mother and Daddy,

I had a very pleasant week-end, revolving mostly around John Fulton and studying. On Thursday night John Fulton came over and asked me if I wanted to go to an engagement party - of course I said yes. The girl was Barbara [Mclelure?]. She lives down on Longwood and used to go to Marlborough. It was a very nice party and Barbara seemed glad that I had come, but I really didn't know too many of the people, so I felt a little out of it. But I had a nice time anyway. On Friday I didn't do anything but study, practice, and sew. I sewed the rest of the beads on my pink dress. With the beads that were left over I made a little choker which I think turned out quite well. On

Saturday afternoon John came over and wanted to know how his piece was coming; so he insisted that I go play it for him. I tried to get outof doing it because I don't know anything at all about transposing, but I did my best which I don't think pleased him very much. He made me keep playing it over again and again and even without the music. It was just terrible; he was much worse than Mrs. Belenky and Miss Dudley put together. After that ordeal we went and watched a Rugby game for a little while; it certainly was an odd game. After that I came home, but went out again later with him and his best friend for dinner. His best friend is a boy named Bud [Greist?] and is certainly a wonderful boy, he is a med. student in Bob's class. They both looked so

nice and I was certainly in my element. It won't be many times that I shall go out with two boys together, and especially two boys like that. We went to a divine place for dinner - it's a place where lots of Stanford people go, but it would just be my luck to have no one there to see me walk in with the two of them. Bud went back to San Fransisco after dinner and I went to a dance here with John. To say the least I had a divine time. Yesterday John came over in the afternoon, and since he had found some bullets and Jane had gotten hold of a 22 rifle we went gopher hunting. I let him do most of the shooting - he knows quite a bit about it, at least he seems to. When he was in Panama he went crocodile, black panther, and sail fish

hunting. We didn't hit anything though. The gophers stayed pretty much in their holes and it started to rain, so we had to come home.

Bob also called yesterday and asked me to go see "Harvey" with him on Wednesday. Of course I'd already seen it and I have a psychology test on Thursday, but I wanted to see him; so I said I'd go. Any way most of my studying for psychology will be done by then. I certainly hope I do better. Even though I put the same amount of time in on it, I don't seem to be able to get out of studying what I ought to this quarter.

I certainly hope you will be able to come up over the 22nd. I'm going to be hurt if you don't come soon. I really don't think you need to worry about my going to Canada, but it was nice of you to say I could if they went. Love to all, Mary
