March 12, 1946.

Dear Mother and Daddy,

I have sat down to write at least six times since last Wednesday, but so many things have happened that I have not been able to do a thing. Finals are next week and I really haven't done too much studying for them yet, but some.

The rumor that I might be living in the D.G. house next quarter is unbelievingly true. It was down in black and white that that is where I am to move, but I can scarcely believe it, having wanted to for so long. Needless to say, I am very happy about it and all the girls seem very

pleased too, at least they keep telling me that they are, and that makes me all the happier. It's also so very nice to know that I shall never have to worry about moving any place again but will be settled for the rest of the time I'm in the university. I can hardly believe my luck. There is also a chance that Sally and Jane may get in too. They are going down to see about it today, we are all keeping our fingers crossed for them.

when I got up there, who should I see but Bob, so I came home and put on my bathing suit instead and spent the afternoon with him at the boathouse instead. That evening I was supposed to go and see "Oklahoma" with Sally, but Sally's parents, so she wanted to do something with [Willie?] and her parents. I was very diasappointed at the thought of not going to see it because I knew that we would never have another chance to see it while it was in San Fransisco. When I came home from the boathouse there was a boy here, [Wade?] [Mover?], who has been a friend of Ruth's for a long time and I've gotten to know

hime quite well, just like I know Willie or someone. I asked him if he wanted two tickets for "Oklahoma" and he said yes - so I gave them to him. But he heard me talking to Sally on the phone and found out that I wasn't goingto be able to go; so he asked me to go with him. I couldn't very well say no, and besides he supposedly has been wanting to take me out for quite some time, and furthermore I wanted to see "Oklahoma" very much; so we went and had a lovely time. Oklahoma is everything that they say it is and more. I hope it comes to Los Angeles so that you will have the chance to see it.

On Saturday I got up early and spent the entire morning

practicing. At noon I found that I was definitely going to live in the D.G. house; so I wa very elated the rest of the day. Incidentally the real name of the D.G. house now is the Prarie Storey house. John Fulton came over in the afternoon. (Last Thursday he showed me the pictures of his trip to Panama - they were very interesting), but I wouldn't leave until the house because I thought Bob would call, but he didn't so I went into Palo Alto about three to get a chocolate sundae and we stopped on the way at the boathouse to see Sally about something and who should we see sitting there with her but Bob. That was really lovely - [when?] he came to pick me up I
