Dear Mother and Daddy,

Everything is fine, I've got my classes all settled and my trunks opened. Ruth and I had a very nice, but not too restful trip up. As soon as we got here we went down to register and after standing in line quite some time, we found that upper division students weren't supposed to register until that afternoon. We fooled around and came home and then Bob arrived; so I guess he hadn't been too mad at me, or else he ahd gotten over it.

The keys were here when I got here almost - you shouldn't have worried about then, because I think I could have found some that would probably have worked. But thank you

very much for rushing them off.

I am just taking three courses again this quarter, but they carry a lot of units, so I'm quite sure I could do no more. I'm taking German, an English course called English masterpieces, and a course for Political Science, Introduction to American Public Law. I went to classes for the first time today, and the last course is going to be absolutely terrible. I have never seen such people as are in that class in all my life. They almost all look as though they have been out of college about six years. I shall never be able to keep up with them. But I think the course will be very interesting. You study primarily constitutional cases

We did a lot of them in Political Science I and II and I thought it was more interesting than anything else we did in there. I haven't taken any English since the grammar courses I had to take for my requirements; so I thought I should take anotehr.

I had a very nice time with Bob on Monday. he took me out to dinner. We had a delicious meal, but I must confess that it did not compare to what I had last week. The we went to the Reg. dance. It was a lot of fun to see who everyone was there with. Everyone was with someone new. Bob looked very nice in his civilian clothes. He had on a grey flannel suit.

Classes didn't start until today, so he also came down yesterday, and I saw him for a little while in the afternoon and in the evening. John Fulton

has also been over a couple of times, but somehow I feel that he is rather mad at me right now. I guess I just can't keep them all happy, all of the time. Supposedly I have a date with him on Friday night, but then I can never tell.

My two roomates are both just as nice as they can be. I'm sure that I will get along with them very well.

Thank you again for letting me have Ruth down for Spring vacation. I enjoved having her so much, and I know that she enjoyed it too. I hope that it wasn't too much trouble.

I forgot to tell you I'd like to have my white gloves cleaned. They are in my top drawer and I would appreciate it if you would have them sent, because there isn't any place in Palo Alto that I can have it done. Also when you send my things in my laundry box, could you please also send me a white dresser scarf and also Ruth's hair brush if you happen to see it around. Love to all, Mary
