Dear Mother and Daddy,
I this point I am fairly well learning. Today I was going to the beach with Bob today, but we went instead to Bud Spiegl's brother's girl's house. Bud went with Virginia Walker who is one of the D.G.'s, amd Bud's brother and his girl of course were there, and so was another med. student [Tag Heedley]; so we really had quite a party. The house was sort of a little summer home on one of the hills between here and San Jose. It had a beautiful view and there was a swimming pool and a tennis court on the top. It was certainly a lovely place. We all went swimming and Bob and Bud played tennis. She also had a lunch there that the boys had brought.

We came home about four and then we had dinner with Bill and Kay. So the whole day was quite complete. Yesterday we all went to the track meet, and it was really very exciting - there is always something going on. John was in three races and won every one of them. You should have heard what people said about him! Then we came back and fooled around playing bridge, etc. and then the boys stayed for dinner - That was terrible, usually we have such good dinners, but this time, the one time we would ask them, we had corn beef hash, after all the wonderful dinners they gave us - Kay and I just about died. After dinner we went to a dance here on campus which was very good. I realize all this doesn't sound as if I've been working very hard, but really, I'll make up for it next week -
