Dear Mother and Daddy,

The week has passed rather quickly. I finally got my law case book which cost me ten dollars, and I've been trying to work out all the cases but to say the least I'm rather confused. We will be having a test next week and I'm very worried because I don't understand very well how to reason out questions in cases. I have enough trouble figuring out the cases that have already come up without having to work out something by myself. I havn't found out what I got on my English test, but I got another C on my German test.

My bitter interlude with John Fulton is definitely over

and as a parting gift he gave me a slab of maple sugar. He came over on Wednesday night and we talked the whole situation over and decided that it wasn't very satisfactory. He will be gone all the rest of the week ends anyway. He is going to be in a track meet next Saturday with S.C. If you don't have anything more pressing to do you ought to go see it because track meets are very exciting to watch and S.C. has an excellent team. Stanford is having a track meet with S.C. tomorrow and it will be just terrible because they are much better than we are. Olympic Club. S.C. will beat our team all to pieces, but every one here is extremely disturbed at S.C. because they asked us to not to send down our golf team because they didn't feel that they'er golf team was ready. Golf isn't a very important sport and it doesn't seem to me S.C. should be so picky - [eenish] and be afraid to lose to our golf team simply because we have a pretty good one although that's about all we have that's good. And even when we knew we would probably lose all our track points to S.C. we certainly didn't think of canceling the obligation. I have never heard of any school that has less sportsmanship, and I'd certainly hate to be going to a school that

was getting such a reputation for not having any. I'm certainly glad Stanford would rather pride herself in having good sportsmanship than just having a good athletics record.

Last night we had an exchange dinner with one of the corridors at Roble - Q center in fact which was the one I was in. It was a very nice idea but they are all drawing for where they are going to live next fall, and they all sounded as if they wanted to move here and in fact they kept asking us how many vacancies there are going to be and could they see the rooms. It would be nice if it were a nice corridor but with the exception of two they were all awful. And we kept talking about all the duties there were in the house, supper

duty, flower duty, phone duty, coffee cup duty, and about six million others that we made up and how they had maid service at Lagunita. I certainly hope a lot of awful girls don't move in because there are only two girls in now that don't belong here. It's been so nice here and I just don't want it to change. The girls are all so nice and it's more like a sorority than any house up here. It's probably a selfish attitude, but those Irishman are all so eager, at least I didn't move into the house without being asked.

I'm just going out with Bob this week-end. [We'er] going to a swimming meet Saturday afternoon. Sally is going with us too because
