Dear Mother and Daddy,

I am now spending a quiet afternoon after a very wonderful week-end. I went to church this morning and have been studying my history every since I came back, except for a little time I spent talking to Fargo Wells, who called to ask me out. I couldn't go, but I was certainly surprised to hear from him.

I was so glad to see Margie; she was just darling, and all the girls thought that she was just about the cutest thing they had ever seen. I do hope that she had a wonderful time. I didn't see to much of her because she was out with Bob most of the time, but I did have a nice time talking to her on Friday night. I wanted to tell her about everything that went on in hopes that she would be inspired to study very hard so that she could get into a real college next year. Luckily, just at that time some boys came to senerade us, and all the girls went out on the little balcony and sang back; so I think she was impressed. We had sort of a special luncheon before the game when you could have guests so I had Margie and Bob stay. I think Bob knew quite a few boys around; so that they didn't feel so strange. She left about nine o'clock this morning, and I didn't get a chance to feed her any breakfast, seeing that breakfast isn't served on Sunday morning until after nine. I felt rather badly sending her off without anything.

All except for loosing the game, I had just a wonderful week-end. That game was the most disappointine thing because, it looked for so long as if we were going to win it. I think that everyone would rather have won the S C game than any other; so that made it doubly disappointing. I am rather glad now that Bobbie wasn't up here; so I wouldn't have to listen to all of his remarks. I was able to see quite a few people I knew. Merle Mayer and Ann Dorner were hear for lunch and I saw Annette and Alice for a few minutes after the game and tried to make some arrangements to see them later, but plans were so confused that I never did. I also ran into Nancy Majors, who just happened to be wandering in the house and also later on that evening.

My date Friday night turned out very well. That was the night I was going out with the law student. He brought a friend along with him who was engaged to a girl in Los Angeles, and who was rather lonesome. I was very glad because then I wasn't required to carry on such a conversation. Besides all we did was go to some open-houses on the campus, and I felt very important having every one see me out with two nice looking boys at the same time. Saturday night was just about the best date I have had in a long time. I went with Jack Carpenter to a Delt-Beta-Zate party at the Los Altos Country Club. Jack has a personality very similar to Bob's except that he isn't so much of an intorvert, and likes to mix with the croud more, which I like rather than just sitting alone. Besides between the two of us we knew practically every one there, and we just talked to everyone. I wore my gray dress and had no end of compliments on it. Jack asked me for a date for the Cal. game, which is the big week-end of the year. I already have a date with Bob for it; so I wasn't able to accept, and I can't help saying I was a little disappointed. However, I do have a date with him next Saturday.

I went to my music lesson again yesterday morning. Dr. Popper seemed rather pleased again, which of course made me very pleased. He played for me again, and I nearly went out of my mind it was so beautiful. I reviewed a Debussy Arabesque for him, which I have almost finished now, and I am going to start on another very beautiful Debussy piece next time. I am also doing a Chopin Balade, which is extremely pretty. Dr. Popper said the work I had done showed very good practicing. He keeps talking about all the things we will have to do together; so he must be pleased with me. All I have to do is keep him that way.

I hate to tell you, but my stocking situation is very drastic. I ran my last pair last night, and had to borrow a pair from Illie. I insisted that she give me an old pair with snags in them which she did, and I got a run in them too. I felt just terrible about it, and I havn't told her yet. I am going to take them down tomorrow and have them fixed, but I don't know when they will be through, and in the meantime I just refuse to

borrow another pair for fear of doing the same thing to them. So I would appreciate it very much if you would dig me up just one pair to wear until mine come. I promise to be as careful as I can with them.

I must go now and check a book out of the library to read for history. We are having a test in it on Tuesday, and I want to try and get a good grade in it. I only got a B- on the last one, and I was rather disappointed because I thought I had done better on it than that.

Love to all,

Mary
