Dear Mother and Daddy,

I recieved Daddy's bank statement and was so thrilled. I meant to write you immediately but was involved in a book report that was due today, so I had to wait. It was so nice of you to send me so much, I really didn't need that much at all, but I certainly do appreciate it. I can come home in fine style [??]. So many nice things happened to me yesterday; when I came home from church there was a little present waiting for me on my desk from my roommate, Jane. It was a little wooden figure of a little girl with blond hair and blue eyes sitting at a piano. She said it just looked so much like me that she had to get it for me. I saw Dr. Beder at church and had a lovely little talk ith him and Mrs. Rieder afterwards. He gave a very good sermon, at least I liked it.

Last night, I had the most fun I have had in a long time. I went with Jack and about six other couples including Ruth and Dilys Jones to the Officer's Club at the Alameda Navel Air Station. It was just a wonderful place. We had

dinner there and danced and of course talked our heads off. There was such a nice group of people there and all the people that you'd want to be with. There were several other groups of Stanford people around that we knew and kept running into. Ruth and [Dilys?] and I spent half the time writing a song for senior breakfast while all the boys were talking about their favorite topic, athletics.

The senior breakfast really turned out to be quite successful. I had to get all the Juniors up at seven-thirty to get the things set up for breakfast and practice the skit which at this time still wasn't quite written. Finally about a quarter after eight I got them all up and everyone was still in the process of writing when all the seniors and Mrs. Reynolds came down [to be fed?] at nine o'clock. Nevertheless, the skit went off without mishap - we hadn't even gone through it once - and everyone said that it was the best ever. We had to include about thirteen girls so we had quite a bit of material to work with. The seniors also

gave an awfully cute [sit?] but the only disappointing thing about senior breakfast was that no one announced their engagement, and there were so many people who could have. Everyone just sat around downstairs waiting for something to happen and nothing did.

Friday night we had a vey enjoyable time, we just went to play miniature golf; so we got in quite early. It was really quite an exciting game because first I was quite a cut ahead, then Jack started catching up; so that we really didn't know who was winning until we finally counted up the score. I hate to say it, but he won, although it was only by one point.

The rest of the week-end - all Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and afternoon, and Sunday afternoon and evening I spent working on my book-report. I don't think I have ever found any one so facinating to read about as Woodrow Wilson. he was in politics only twelve years. Eight of which he was in the White House and three of which he was an ex-President. I don't think I have

ever heard of such a [remarkable?] career. I really spent more time than I should have on this book, but I just found it so interesting.

I hope you are now having a good rest and that they aren't doing anything drastic to you. Thank you again for the money. If you find yourselves in ned of a little reimbursing, I just wish you would let me know, and I shall be more than glad to oblige.

Love to all, Mary
